First victory For Coventry Save Our Children’s Centres!

After all the press coverage we gained this week and support from people from across the city it was no surprise yesterday that the council agreed a 90 day consultation period during which parents can put forward their views on the closure or reduction of day care provision. We also got an unusual concession in that representatives of the campaign can also be part of a scrutiny board where we can check the facts and figures of the matter and put together out own business model to make the provision at children’s centres work and sustainable.

what you can do next

  • Email your councillor a letter asking them to hold the cabinet to account after yesterdays success with getting a 90 day consultation period.
  • Attend our first meeting this Saturday (children and partners welcome) 10.00 a.m at The Friends Meeting House, Hill St, in town (off corporation street, opposite TJ Hughes
  • Get petitions going in your area – we must have name, house number AND postcode – without these sig’s DO NOT COUNT
  • Like us on our facebook page COVSOCC

thanks for all your letters of support so far, Sam – Coventry Save Our Children’s Centres

Dear Councilor [name]

This version if you Cllr is Labour I am writing to you today to urge you to follow up on the promise cabinet made on Tuesday July the 19th to parents leading the Coventry Save Our Children’s Centres (COV SOCC). Cllr Lynette Kelly said that parents representing the campaign would be able to sit on a scrutiny board, have access to facts and figures in order to check the assumptions of the review and then develop their own business model. Please do not allow this promise to be broken. COV SOCC representatives need details of how this will go ahead urgently as the consultation period is just 90 days.

Yours Sincerely

Dear Councilor [name]

I am writing to you today to urge you to ensure that the Labour Cabinet keep their promise to parents leading the Coventry Save Our Children’s Centres campaign. If you were not at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday July the 19th you will have no doubt heard of our first victory.

I very much appreciate the cross party support that this campaign has generated.

Yours sincerely
