CWV was started in November 2010, we are an independent group of diverse individual women and women’s organisations coming together to ensure women’s voices are being heard when decisions are made locally that effect our lives and we work to bring about positive change in the lives of women living in Coventry.
Since our launch we have organized a number of well attended public meetings and training events, responded to several City council consultations and published Unravelling Equality: an equality and human rights impact assessment of the spending cuts on women in Coventry. This report has received wide-spread local and national attention from politicians, journalists and policy makers and has been used as the basis for similar projects in other cities.
We are really making a difference in Coventry – can you help us move to the next level?
Up to now we have operated as an informal network, with decisions being made at monthly business meetings. But we now have to establish ourselves on a more formal footing, so that we can raise the money we need to continue with our work.
We are planning to become a company limited by guarantee and may become a registered charity in the future.
In order to do this we are looking to fill the posts of up to 8 Trustees for Coventry Women’s Voices (CWV). These posts are unpaid but they offer a great opportunity to work with other women for the benefit of all women in Coventry, make friends and learn new skills.
We do not currently employ staff so the work of Coventry Women’s Voices is carried out by the members, and trustees will be expected to play an active role in the work of the organisation.
We are looking for women with a range of skills and experience including – campaigning, lobbying, gender equality and other equalities issues, vision and values, strategic planning, public policy, personnel, finance and fundraising
If you feel you could fulfill any of these roles and are willing to provide us with your time and expert advice, or know someone else that could, please get in touch. Send your CV and a short covering note saying why you would like to be a trustee and what you think you can bring to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 5th December
