Dianne Whitfield – Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (CRASAC)

CRASAC is proud to stand here today in sisterhood – Supporting over 5,000 victims of rape and sexual violence every year through our services, we know only too well the devastating impact it has on the lives of women and girls.

Everyday women are faced with street harassment, abuse and sexual violence – ranging from cat calling, groping to rape and sexual assault.

For too long too many of us have become too afraid to be in the public spaces that belong  to us all and when we complain we are too often isolated and blamed for being in these spaces.

What this march says to me is a very loud ‘we will no longer tolerate this abuse of our human rights’.

We demand safety on our streets, in our homes – wherever we are.

We reject the blame for our violation and our abuse and in our unified voice we demand action and justice!

We will live our lives free of fear and harassment.
